Have you ever known time to get away from you? ¿Alguna vez ha conocido la hora de alejarse de ti? Your busy doing something and the next thing you realize is that your late for church, or you`ve had no time to pray, or like me you`ve had no time to blog, or what have you. Giving - The Christian Path Dar - El camino cristiano

I recently had the good fortune to meet a Sunday school teacher whose church is based in the Philippines and we spoke a lot about the conditions there, the church, and more than anything, the children. One of the hardest things they run into is supplies such as toys, coloring books, crayons, teaching aids, furniture, and what have you. After hearing of this I went onto Amazon and purchased twenty coloring books and had them shipped straight to the church. For the price of taking a few folks out to dinner, just one time (or less than ten gallons of gas) these kids will have things to play with in their Sunday school class. These teachers are clearly doing a wonderful job with these children, even without adequate supplies. I am saying that those of us in the US and Europe could all do a lot more than we’re doing. Of course, I’m right there too - I never considered that it would be possible to just pack up a box and send it to someone that needs it. Maybe it’s time we all consider it now. Tal vez es hora de que todos consideramos que es ahora. Just find someone that has needs and fill them. It may be a material thing, or a kind word, or the sharing of the gospel. Puede ser una cosa material, o una palabra cariñosa, o el reparto del evangelio. Whatever it is I can tell you that filling that need will help them, and you’ll feel very good doing it. I’m not typically one to be too apocalyptic. Yo no soy normalmente un ser demasiado apocalíptica. Nonetheless the Word is clear that we do not know the hour or the day that He will return [ 1 Thessalonians 5:2 ] . No, I’m not screaming out the “end is near” or “turn and burn.” What does concern me is the many Christians that justify actions that are not clearly laid out in the Word, or worse, actions that are expressly forbidden. It’s one of the funniest stories I have ever heard, and it so clearly illustrates what it really means to avoid the appearance of evil. As many of you know, my wife belongs to an extremely spiritually abusive church and is in the process of divorcing me, clearly something she feels is supported by God. I was reminded, once again, that how we live is a model for the Lord Jesus Christ, and if we live in a way that we are called hypocrites, or apathetic, or complacent, then the same will be said of the One True God. I received a father’s day card in the mail from my wife’s parents and written on it was Thessalonians 5:23-24 : He recibido un Día del Padre tarjeta en el correo de mi esposa y los padres por escrito en que se Tesalonicenses 5:23-24:
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t that an incredible thought? ¿No es increíble que un pensamiento? We sinners, saved by grace, have an incrdible fountain. A while back I heard a preacher explaining that divorce is not permitted. A tiempo oí un predicador para explicar que el divorcio no está permitido. He went on to say that when pastors are performing marriage counseling they need to make clear to the couple that the Word does not permit divorce, except under the situation of adultery. Interestingly enough my wife, who is divorcing me, lives with this exact same pastor, but I’ll leave my post on hypocrisy for another day. The fact is marriage is incredibly important to God. El hecho es que el matrimonio es increíblemente importante para Dios. The Lord abhors divorce! El Señor aborrece el divorcio! Why, then, is it so visible in our society today? ¿Por qué, entonces, es tan visible en nuestra sociedad hoy en día? Well, I think a number of factors come into play. When we place others before our spouse, whether those others be a church, a family, our friends, or anyone else we really are placing their value above our spouse and, let’s face it, if our spouse feels unvalued lots of bad things can happen. If both halves of the marriage are focused on the most important priority what strife occurs will be minimal. There will always be problems within a marriage but when both members are truly focused on the Lord, are praying together and listening together, they will be brought into unison. Many couples hold a second ceremony in their lives to renew their vows and that’sa wonderful thing to do, but did you consider doing that right now? Is there any reason not to? ¿Hay alguna razón para no? Pray with your spouse, and while your praying, renew those vows you made.
