The Sufferings of This Present Time

By Brian | May 17, 2008

’ve been considering what He’s doing in my life and in my heart and why on earth all of this is happening. I have never been able to understand how this came about and it’s always been a puzzler to say the least. I do believe that my wife loved me at one time and, in all honesty, I believe she loves me now.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  - Romans 8:18

I really love this passage in Romans because we all suffer. Every one of us at one time or another is suffering. Right now I’m suffering. My children are suffering and my wife is suffering. When we go against the Biblical standard that He has set we suffer. We all have free will; the Word is ripe with actions and consequenses to those actions. It’s just the way it is. None of us truly practice what we preach everytime.

The beauty is that those actions we make against the Word are what He uses to shape and mold us to be what He requires. The supreme sacrifice allows us to be forgiven, washed white as snow. No matter what we have done, what rules we have and have not followed, when and where we became Christians, none of it matters. Our bad choices allow Him to make us what we need to be - then with repentance comes forgiveness.

God is good.
